Read More	GRAFFIS, Roy 1931 - 2014 Roy "Bill" Graffis, age 82, of Seven Bays, WA., passed away at the Alderwood Care Center in Spokane, WA, on July 4, 2014 with family and loved ones by his side. Many friends and former students, including staff at the Care Center, referred to him as "Coach". Roy was born December 22, 1931 in Omak, WA, to Howard and Mary Jane Graffis. After attending Lewis and Clark High School for two years, the family moved to Omak where he completed high school prior to enlisting with the Air Force in 1950. Upon completing his military service, he returned to Omak and married Della Boyd on August 4, 1954, and together they raised six children. Roy attended Eastern Washington State College where he earned a Bachelor Degree in education, and later a Master's Degree in school counseling. He taught and coached in Lacrosse, Oakville, Moses Lake (Job Corp), Sprague, Odessa, and Oakesdale. Roy later earned his Superintendent credentials from Washington State University and completed his career in education as Superintendent in the Columbia School District, Hunters, WA. He established a reputation for building quality academic and athletic programs. Through his teams' accomplishments, he remains the only coach in Washington State Interscholastic Association history to win State Championships in three major sports; football, boys basketball and girls basketball. On October 9, 2009, Roy was inducted into the Inland Empire Sports Hall of Fame. Roy was an avid reader and very active in politics, loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed teaching/coaching kids. He touched many lives with a sense of humor, compassion, and a genuine love for his wife, family, and friends. Roy cared about people, especially children. As one individual commented, "he did not let a kid do without." Roy was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ben. He is survived by his wife, Della; his sister, Martha Jensen of Juneau, Alaska; six children, Kevin (Tracy) of Lewiston, ID, Kelly (Kathy), of Snoqualmie, WA, Patti (Roger) Pride, of Prescott, AZ, Mary Rambo of Spokane, WA, Bill (Martha) of Seattle, WA, and Jane Murphy of Tacoma, WA; thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. on July 12th 2014 at the Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 2511 Elmway, Okanogan, WA. A reception will follow at the church. Relatives and friends are also invited to a "Celebration of Life" gathering at the Seven Bays Community Center at 12:00 Noon on July 19th 2014. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Habitat for Humanity or Special Olympics. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel and the Okanogan Co.
