Description	:	Roy Woodrow Southard, 94, of West Old Murphy Road, Franklin, passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2007. A native of Macon County and lifelong resident of the Cartoogechaye Community, he was the son of the late Charles and Florence Sprinkle Southard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Raymond Southard; two sisters, Bonnie Shay and Letha Southard; four brothers Erine, Burrell, J.D. and Elbert Southard. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Dills Southard; a daughter, Linda Austin and husband Lacy of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Dwight Southard and wife Edna, and Tim Southard and wife Ruby, all of Franklin; two sisters, Louise Thomas of Pontiac, Mich., and Leona Bryant of Mauldin, S.C.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Sunday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m., at Cartoogechaye Baptist Church, with Revs. Carson Gibson, Steve Reeves and Andy Cloer officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chuck Southard, Brian Southard, Jonathan Southard, Stan Southard, Charles Southard and Joel Alpern. Deacons of Cartoogechaye Church served as honorary pallbearers.
