Post, and the interment was made in the Reading Cemetery. * Royal Lafferty, Son of John & Sarah Lafferty of Knox County, Illinois according to 1850 Federal Census which follows: Living in Knox County, Illinois according to 1850 Federal Census for that county in Lafferty Family 1671 & dwelling house 1610 with Father, John Lafferty, born 1808 Pennsylvania & Mother, Sarah Lafferty, born 1807 New York. Also, Elias Lafferty, born 1832 Ohio was in same household; also, Eleazar Lafferty born 1835 Ohio; Ufarna Lafferty, born 1838 Illinois; also, Edward Lafferty born 1842 Illinois; also, Royal 1843; also,Uphela Lafferty born 1846 Illinois. Royal Lafferty was identified as parent of Alfred Lafferty in 1900 Federal Census for Thayer, Nebraska. Alfred's mother was identified as Rosetta E. Lafferty. Based upon this information, Royal may have been married twice. Alfred was born Nov 1882 in Kansas. ***** Information below provided by Joe Chester (#47184077): Royal Lafferty was married 3 times. First known wife was Sarah Jane Atherton. They were married on November 10, 1866 in Stark County, Illinois and she died prior to his marriage to Marcilla (sp?) R. Harkness on Nov 25, 1875 in Henry County, Ill. Royal and first wife Sarah Jane had 2 known children: Glenn W. Lafferty (1868-1935) and Mary Etta (1869-1959). I've yet to locate the graves of Sarah Jane or son Glenn. All of this info can be found on familysearch.org.
