Sherrill, 76, of Albion, NE, died Monday, March 24, 2014, at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove, NE. Royce Rolland Sherrill, son of O. G. “Jack” and Lucille Helen (Fleming) Sherrill, was born April 1, 1937 at Albion, NE. Royse attended school at Albion, graduating from Albion (NE.) High School in June of 1955. After graduation, he worked for the Boone County, Nebraska Road Department, then in the fall moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He took a job with the Omaha Cartage where he packed and unpacked furniture for the servicemen who were going overseas and/or coming back to live in the Omaha, Nebraska area. A year later he began working for Continental Can Company until December 1960, while also serving in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve. On June 14, 1958, Royce was united in marriage to LaVonne M. Kiehl, at the United Methodist Church, Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Omaha, Nebraska until 1961 when they returned to Albion, Nebraska and opened Sherrill's Grocery & Gas. In 1979, Royce decided to try something new and went to work for Sullivan Motors as a salesman until retiring in 2001. Following retirement, he continued to work part-time at the Wolf Home, driving the bus for the residents and townspeople. Royce was a member of the United Methodist Church, Albion, Nebraska. He was an avid Nebraska Football and Volleyball Fan, enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, and you could usually find him having coffee at Whitestar twice a day. Royce was preceded in death by: parents and brother, Donald Dean "Don" Sherrill. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, Albion, Nebraska with Rev. Larry Barbary as officiator. Inurnment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, Nebraska.
