The funeral for Ruby Albertha (Berg) Strand, 81, was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 1997 at Bottolfson Chapel in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead. A prayer service was held Friday at 7 p.m. in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, rural Litchville. Lunch was served at the Marion Community Hall, Marion, ND. She died Tuesday, September 30, 1997 at Eventide Lutheran Home< Moorhead, MN. Ruby Albertha Wangrud was born May 5, 1916, the daughter of Kolbjorn "K.K." and Olga (Botner) Wangrud. She grew up and received her education in Black Loam Township. She was baptized and confirmed at High Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Litchville. She married Elmer "Bud" Berg December 1, 1934 at Valley City. They farmed in rural Litchville. In 1937 they moved to Washington state. In 1940 they moved to Meadow Lake Township, ND where they farmed. In 1957 they moved to Staples, MN. Elmer died in 1965. From 1960-1968 Ruby worked at Morey's Fish Company, Motley, MN. She married Justin Strand April 20, 1968 at Comstock, MN where they lived. She was a member of Comstock Lutheran Church and the ALCW, the Sons of Norway and the Clay County Historical Society. Her husband died in 1986. In January 1996 she entered Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead. She is survived by Roger Berg, Dilworth, MN and Eileen Berg, Fargo, ND; daughters: DeLette (Norman) Winkelman, Jamestown, ND; Shirley E. Boom, Marion, ND; Olga Mae (Larry) Epling, Cornelius, OR; a sister, Joyce Olson, Jamestown; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, her parents, a granddaughter, Dawn; two brothers, Carl and Palmer Wangrud; two sisters, Mabel Cammack and Fern Opdahl. On Saturday, following funeral services for Ruby Stand at Moorhead, burial services were held at Bethlehem Cemetery near Litchville. A lunch for relatives and friends was served at the Marion Hall. Many of the family members also got together at Shirley Boom's home Saturday and Sunday. Published in The Litchville Bulletin, Litchville, ND, October 1997.
