She had taught in Lebo High School in the late 1920s. She and her husband farmed west of Dunlap from 1941 to 1985. She was born March 31, 1907, at Dunlap, the daughter of Lewis A. and Mina A. She had taught in Lebo High School in the late 1920s. She and her husband farmed west of Dunlap from 1941 to 1985. She was born March 31, 1907, at Dunlap, the daughter of Lewis A. and Mina A. Wolfrom Whitaker. She graduated from Dunlap High School in 1925 and from Baker University in 1929. She had lived in El Dorado from 1930 to 1936 and in Osage City from 1936 to 1941. She moved to Emporia from the farm in 1985. Mrs. Thomas was a 75-year member of Dunlap United Methodist Church, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia, Semper Fidelis Sunday school class at the church, United Methodist Women, the Friendly Fellowship, Ruggles Extension Unit of Lyon County, and Phi Mu sorority at Baker University. She married Frederick W. Thomas Jr. on June 24, 1930, at Dunlap. He died May 8, 1985. Survivors include two sons, Ralph Thomas, Emporia, and Gerald Thomas, Council Grove; four granddaughters; and three great- grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Emporia. Burial will be in Dunlap Cemetery in Dunlap. Memorial contributions may be made to the Morris County 4-H Foundation or to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia.
