Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4 in Bethany Free Will Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Vause was born in Scriven, Ga., a daughter of the late James Benjamin and Roberta Mayers Miles. She was graduated from J.C. Lynch High School and was a cafeteria manager with Florence District 1 for 29 years. She was a member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, where she organized the Ruby Vause Sunday School class in 1958 and has taught the class since then. She was also a member of the Vanilla Grainger Circle of the church. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Rudy Vause on April 22, 2002. Survivors include two daughters, Dean V. (Larry) Harris and Mona Gay V. (Ronnie) Harris both of Florence; two sons, Crafton R. (Donna) Vause of Bethune and Gerald D. (Karen) Vause of Darlington; four sisters, Cordella Oliver of Florence, Eula Flowers of Coward, Roberta Altman of Melbourne, Fla, and Barbara Ann Miles of Scranton ; two brothers, Hubert Miles of Florence and Victor Miles of Woodruff; seven grandchildren, Glenn Vause, Chad Harris, Ginger Mangum, Stacey Harris, Monica Woodberry, Christina Harris and Ron Harris; and eight great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Free Will Baptist Church, 4071 Creek Road, Timmonsville, SC 29161.
