Mrs. Smith was married to the late John Ray Smith who preceded her in death on April 1, 2006. She was also preceded in death by a sister Pearl. Survivors include five sons; John R. Smith (Gayle) of Greensboro, NC, Sidney D. Smith (Melanie) of Shelby, NC, Darrow M. Smith (Kathy) of Norwood, N.C., Kevin L. Smith (Susan) of Salisbury, NC and Rodney J. Smith of Shelby, IN and five daughters; Belinda E. Smith of Fuquay Varina, NC, Yonia S. Cooper of Houston, TX, Judith S. Fowler of Knightdale, NC, Ruby S. Roach of Hope Mills, NC and Amelia S. Dennis (Willard) of Troy, NC, thirteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Autumn Care of Salisbury, Activity Fund, 1505 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, N.C. 28144.
