She was born September 11, 1947 in Ottumwa to Fred and Caroline Rupe Martsching. She married Gary Gruwell June 27, 1970. A 1965 graduate of Cardinal High School, Ruby had worked at Good Samaritan Society, Ottumwa Drive-In, Hawthorne Communications and security for Heartland Lysine/Cargill. She served as a board member at Miller Chapel Church. Ruby enjoyed gardening, helping others, talking with people, and doing word search puzzles. Surviving is her husband, Gary; her children, Susan Gruwell (Jeffrey Lunsford) and David Gruwell (Candi Niner) both of Ottumwa; six grandchildren, Ashley Gruwell, Olivia and Madison Lunsford, Laci Lunsford-Davis, Rachel Lunsford Simmons, Brandon Loftin; 3 great grandchildren, Bayne, Everly and Vivian; a brother, Marion (Cathy) Martsching of Benson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mary Carolyn Thomas, Marguerite Williamson and infant, Elizabeth Ann Martsching. Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 14th, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 15th at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Fiedler officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
