Description	:	Ruby Herr, 92, of Bismarck, passed away on Jan. 26, 2013, at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 11:00 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home with Rev. Rebecca Aardahl officiating. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bismarck Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service. Ruby was born on March 1, 1920 at rural Turtle Lake, ND to Jacob and Pauline (Sackman) Gett. She graduated from Turtle Lake High School and went to work for F.W. Woolworth Co. in Bismarck. She married Reuben Herr on July 24, 1937 in Bismarck and together had two sons. Reuben died in November 1970. She worked for the Non-Partisan League Leader office. She was president of the Bismarck Women's NPL Club and executive secretary of the state NPL Women's Club. She worked as Senate Committee Clerk in 1963 and 1965 sessions. In 1969 she began working for the State Tax Department, retiring in 1979. Following her retirement she escorted many bus tours over the United States. She traveled extensively including all of the states, Europe, Turkey, Mexico, Greek Islands and Caribbean Islands. She was a member of the Legacy United Methodist Church of Bismarck. She served as treasurer for many years, sang in the choir, served on many committees and attended many annual church conferences as delegate. She was a member of the AmVets Auxiliary. In 1989 she was elected Queen of the Bismarck Senior Center and served on the management board and building committee. In 1991 she was the first elected Queen of the Downtown Folkfest. She is survived by her sons, Alan Herr, San Diego, CA; and Ray (Diane) Herr, Turtle Lake; sister, Edna Rauser, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, her parents, Jacob and Pauline; and her sisters, Irene Boe and Eleanor Wagner. The family would like to thank the staff at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, South Central, for the loving care give to Ruby during her stay there. The family suggests memorials be given to Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center or charity of the donor's choice.
