Description	:	Ruby L. Plambeck, longtime resident of Edison, passed to a better life on December 28, 2017, one week after her 90th birthday. She said for several weeks she wanted to go home, and now she is finally there as she peacefully left us. She loved her family as much as we loved her and will miss her very much. Ruby was born December 21, 1927 in Broken Bow, Nebraska, the daughter of Everett and Viola Mattox. Ruby graduated from Broken Bow High School. In 1945, she met Glenn E. Plambeck. She had spotted him from the top of the ferris wheel and was drawn to his blue eyes and long eyelashes. On August 31, 1946, they were united in marriage in Salina, Kansas. In March 1949, six months after their first child, Karen, was born, they moved from Nebraska to Bow, Washington. Glenn's sister & brother-in-law (Maurice and Bernadine Longnecker) had enticed them to Washington with the promise of employment. Glenn worked for Claire Eitreim, farming and milking cows. Glenn & Ruby's son, Kevin, was born in 1953. Glenn and Ruby worked for the Burlington-Edison School District as custodians at Edison Elementary School. Ruby was involved with the community and church throughout her life. She was a member of the Edison Lutheran Church, serving on church committees and the Altar Guild for many years. She was a choir member and was involved with the Edison Lutheran Church Women. She was formerly a member of the Rebekah's Lodge and the Edison Women's Club. Glenn and Ruby loved being involved in their grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities. Whether it be attending their school and sporting events, or visiting with them on special family occasions, they cherished those times. This included trips to Disneyland and back home to Nebraska for family reunions. Ruby was predeceased by her husband, Glenn, in 2009; her parents; brothers: Jack Mattox and Lyle Mattox; and sister, Mabel Ellingson. Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Ron) Schutte, of Bow; son, Kevin Plambeck, of Camano Island; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Plambeck, also of Camano Island; sisters: Hazel Close and Judy Lunkwitz (Ray); brothers: Everett Mattox, Cecil Mattox (Shirley) and Steve Mattox; five grandchildren: Kimberly Schutte, Renee Perry (Tom), Ryan Schutte (Tisha), David Schutte (Julie) and Luke Plambeck (Rachel); and 14 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on January 20th, 2018 at 1:00PM at the Edison Lutheran Church, 14201 Church Rd, Bow, WA. A time of viewing will be Thursday, January 4th, 2018, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington, WA. Private Family Graveside Services will be held at the Bow Cemetery. Interment will be under the direction of Hulbush Funeral Home.
