She was adopted by George and Lucille (Hines) Patent in September of 1948 from the Nebraska Children's Home. She was baptized in 1949 and later confirmed in 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Creighton, NE. Ruby was a member of The Vons Merry Men Band. Ruby graduated from Creighton High School in 1962 and moved to Norfolk, NE. She worked for Dr. Workman for over six years. On August 18, 1968, she was united in marriage to Larry L. Karloff at St. John's Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Ruby was a crafter for 32 years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking. She played the organ, piano and accordion. Ruby loved to garden and take care of her flowers. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Beemer, NE. She is survived by her husband Larry Karloff of West Point, NE; daughters and son-in-laws-RaNell and Don Wadzinski of Boone, IA, Denise and Rodney Ruskamp of Dodge, NE, Karla Thiem of Harvest, AL, and Melinda and Damon Walters of Elkhorn, NE; 5 grandchildren-Hilary Pruss, Audrey Wadzinski, Elaina Wadzinski, Ethan Walters and Griffin Walters; sister-Joyce Anderson of Omaha, NE; and brother Robert Peterson of Grand Island, NE. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents-George and Lucille Patent, and a sister-Maggie Shearer.
