She was born Jan. 27, 1925, the seventh of ten children, to H.R. and Bertha (Burhoop) Blum near Waco. She was baptized Feb. 20, 1925 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waco by Rev. F. Wunderlich. She was born Jan. 27, 1925, the seventh of ten children, to H.R. and Bertha (Burhoop) Blum near Waco. She was baptized Feb. 20, 1925 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waco by Rev. F. Wunderlich. She was confirmed April 24, 1938 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Waco by Rev. G.H. Koslowske. Ruby attended St. John’s Lutheran School. On Aug. 11, 1946 she married Roy Dinkelman, who preceded her in death in 2012. Their marriage was blessed with eight children. They farmed in the Utica-Waco area until Roy retired in 1987. Roy and Ruby built a home in York where she resided until her death. Ruby was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Utica, for 68 years and a member of the Ladies Aid. She loved her flowers and kept busy gardening, canning, sewing and embroidering. After retirement, Ruby and Roy traveled, visiting 48 states. They also spent many hours on woodworking projects. Ruby enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a special gift to their children, Roy and Ruby made each of them a grandfather clock. Later Ruby embroidered and pieced a quilt for each child. Survivors include, five daughters, Nancy (Corwin) Hengelfelt, Becky (Keith) Brunkow, Sharri (Jim) Baldonado, Kay Dinkelman and Lisa (Jack) Schreiner; three sons, Gale (Sara) Dinkelman, Gene (Andrea) Dinkelman and Kent (Kellie) Dinkelman; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mildred Klemsz and Joan (Burton) Hoffschneider; one sister-in-law, LaVerna Blum; one brother-in-law, Hubert Gloystein and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Roy, Irven, Clarence and infant twin brothers; two sisters, Verna Bolte and Esther Blum; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Utica with the Rev. Jon Dunbar officiating. Burial will take place in York’s Greenwood Cemetery following services. York News Times 23 September 2014.
