Mrs. Austin was born in Union, Nov. 13, 1946 the daughter of Josephine Preis Stevens of Union and the late Vernon Murphy Stevens. She was a registered nurse and a skilled musician. Mrs. Austin was very active in her church since the age of 13. Mrs. Austin was born in Union, Nov. 13, 1946 the daughter of Josephine Preis Stevens of Union and the late Vernon Murphy Stevens. She was a registered nurse and a skilled musician. Mrs. Austin was very active in her church since the age of 13. Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are a brother, Ronald Stevens of Union; two nephews, one serving in the U.S. Army and one in the U.S. Air Force. Funeral services were held Saturday in Tennessee and will be held in Union Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Padgett's Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
