A native of Rutherford County, she was the widow of Joe Lee Alverson and daughter of the late Arthur W. and Effie Flack Young. She was a retired teacher from the Chesnee School System.

Survivors include one son, Joe Lee Alverson, II of Chesnee; two grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Burial will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
