Novacek, well-known Butler county farmer, who passed away at his home three miles southeast of Edholm on November 16 following a stroke of paralysis, were held at Sts. Peter's and Paul's Catholic church, Abie, at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Nov. 19. Rev. Alcuin Kasny officiated at requiem mass and delivered a sermon. The pallbearers were Fred Coufal, Frank Hajny, Emil Pavel, Jr., James Hajny, Robert W. Shonka and Leonard Shonka. Burial was in the Abie parish cemetery. Mr. Novacek was in his 74th year. He was born in Moravia April 19, 1865, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Novacek, and at the age of nine years came to America with his parents, they locating on the farm near Edholm where Mr. Novacek spent the remainder of his life. In 1891 Mr. Novacek was united in marriage to Miss Anna Hajny, who survives. He also leaves eight children, four daughters and four sons, namely, Mrs. Emil Pavel of Abie, Mrs. F. J. Svoboda of Prague, Mrs. J. F. Sobolik of Selo, Ore., Mrs. E. L. Lipow of Dallas, Texas, and Adolph, Milo, Rudolph and Gerald of Butler county; 17 grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Frances Brown, Mrs. Anna Sypal and Mrs. Helen Kobza of Brainard. Mr. Novacek was a member of the Catholic church and the Catholic Workmen lodge.
