Albert Goms, 45, died at 2 p.m. Thursday [Jul 12] at the St. Joseph's hospital, where he was taken for toxemia treatment from his apartment in the Rex hotel July 7. Creel Mortuary was in charge of the preparations for the funeral that the Eagle’s lodge conducted and the newspaper notices that were sent out. Burial was at the “Lewistown Prot. The Eagles lodge organized an impressive funeral with an expensive casket, a funeral coach, pallbearers, professional services, clothing, chapel, extra cars, singers, newspaper notices, a special escort, and a graveside service. In 2010, I talked with Rudy Hruska of Lewistown. Now ninety-three, he had been the Conductor of the Eagles Club at that time. He stated that it was very common back then to provide a religious service and even sometimes pay for the funeral of a member. Although he does not remember Albert specifically, because of the large number of members they had, he remembers Dan Kennedy and Charles Woodworth, owner of the Montana Tavern.
