Born on July 9, 1930, in Fluvanna County, Virginia, to parents, James and Louisanna Mills Bowles. He attended Fluvanna public school, but as a young man he left Fluvanna to work in New Jersey. He worked for many years in the construction business as an independent contractor. Rudolph loved music and is well known for blasting his CD player... Read More	STAUNTON - Rudolph Bowles, 83, of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Envoy of Staunton. Born on July 9, 1930, in Fluvanna County, Virginia, to parents, James and Louisanna Mills Bowles. He attended Fluvanna public school, but as a young man he left Fluvanna to work in New Jersey. He worked for many years in the construction business as an independent contractor. For over 50 years he lived in New Jersey, New York, and numerous other cities, before returning to Virginia, and settling in Staunton. Rudolph loved music and is well known for blasting his CD player or radio as he spent hours in the courtyard of the nursing home or his home. Along with his love of music he was always up to shopping for new suits. He attended Friendship Church and other neighboring churches in Staunton, until his health no longer allowed him to attend regularly. He never stopped desiring to serve the Lord or wanting to attend church. When he could he would attend services at the nursing home. He loved the Lord in his heart, although he wasn't much of a talker. Rudolph always wanted to shop for a new church suit. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Ann Lane Bowles; sisters, Bertha Bowles, Florence Johnson, Isetta Smith, and Majorie Lyons; and brothers, Benny and Willie Bowles. Survivors include his brothers, James Edward of Esmont, Virginia, and Johnny Bowles of Richmond, Virginia; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Thessalonia Baptist Church, Bremo Bluff, Virginia, with Pastors Doris Woodson and Karen Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family wishes to thank Envoy and Hospice staff. Also, Rudolph was always thankful for the many kind friends that he and his wife, Becky, had over the years in Staunton, and for the support of VCSB.
