Mr. Grieser died last Friday at McDonald hospital, Monticello, after a month's illness. He recently suffered a stroke. He is survived by his wife, three daughters. Mrs. Ed Behrends. Monticello; Mrs. Harry Avance, Cananea, Mexico; Mrs. P. R. Creagan, Rockford, Ill.; son, Wray Grieser, Anamosa. A sister, Mrs. Bertha Hopper, Des Moines, also survives as well as eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A son Carl, preceded him in death. Service Conducted: Rev. H. Graening of the Wyoming Lutheran church conducted the service. Burial was in the family plot at Wyoming. Pallbearers were George Sears, Carroll Lightfoot, Kenneth Kennedy, George Paulson, Fred Martens and Russell Chapman, all of Onslow. German Born: Mr. Grieser was born Sept. 19, 1864 in Germany and with his parents at the age of four years came to America, first settling in Scott county. On Dec. 26, 1889 he was married to Marie Louise Yost. The couple observed their golden wedding date in 1939 with a family dinner three miles north of Anamosa where they resided in the house on the Maurice Fay farm. Last October Mr. and Mrs. Grieser moved to Monticello. Family had lived in Onslow where they conducted a hotel. Mr. Grieser was section foreman for several years. Source: The Anamosa Eureka, 1 July 1943, Page 12. Funeral services for Rudolph Greiser, who died in Monticello hospital, were held Sunday afternoon from the Harrington Funeral home in Wyoming. Onslow men who were pallbearers were: George Paulsen, George Sears, Fred Martins and C. O. Lightfoot. Mr. Greiser and his family lived for many years in Onslow, where he served as section foreman on North Western railroad. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and one son. After the family left Onslow, the home was made in Anamosa and later in Monticello.
