Description	:	The Clarinda Herald, Clarinda, Iowa, Dec 3, 1907 Long, Reuben, an old resident of Clarinda, died at his home on Blaine street Friday night at eleven o’clock and the remains were laid to rest in the Summit cemetery Sunday forenoon. Rev. W.R. Fisher, of the Christian church preached the funeral sermon at ten o’clock. A sketch of Mr Long’s life will be published Friday. Reuben Long, of whose mention was made in Tuesday's issue born in Kalamazoo, Mich., on Nov 11, 1841. In early manhood he moved with his parents to Illinois, and there to Ft. Dodge; thence to county, settling on a farm near Yorktown. On May 1st, 1862, he was united in marriage to Miss Hannah Broadstone his now bereaved companion. To were born seven children, viz.: Jennie, Harriett, Harry, Lemuel, Leslie, Fleet and Edith—Mrs. Lines, of whom the three last named are living. In 1883 the family came to Clarinda where they have since made their home. Mr. Long was for many years an employee of the Clarinda Creamery also for a few years with A. T. Clement, and later with the Clarinda Poultry Co. He was of an obliging disposition, industrious and faithful. For nearly eighteen years he had been a member of the Christian church, having joined under the preaching of Morgan Morgans in 1890. At his funeral Mrs. H. C. Hawley and Mrs. Jackson sang feelingly and appropriately that beautiful, poetic prayer "Abide with me." Let us believe that when fast fell the, eventide, and the darkness deepened, the Lord whom he loved and served did with him abide. To the many kind friends who came helpfully with the tender ministry of their love and sympathy during our hour of sorrow, we return our grateful acknowledgement. Mrs Hannah Long and children.
