Rufas Bither enlisted in the Civil war as a Private 28 Sept. 1864 at the age of 32. Drafted in Company B, 16th Infantry Regiment Maine on 28 Sept 1864. Mustered out Company B 16th Infantry Regiment on 5 June 1865 in Arlington Heights, VA. Rufas filed for a Civil War Pension Nov 4, 1866 and his wife Julia filed for a widows pension in 1889.
