Description	:	Rufus R. Fisher was 22, and living in Sidney, Fremont Co., Iowa, when he enlisted as a Private in Co. A of the 4th Iowa Cavalry on Nov 15, 1861. He was mustered into federal service on Nov 23, 1861. Fisher became a "Reenlisted Veteran" on Dec 12, 1863, along with most of his company. He was promoted to "Wagoner" on July 1, 1864. Although most of the company was mustered out on Aug 8, 1865, in Atlanta, Fisher was carried on the rolls as "absent-sick in hospital in Nashville." On the 1883 Henry County Pensioners List, Fisher is shows as receiving $8.00 a month for "chronic inflammation of the eyes."
