Read More	Son of John Campbell and Flora Wright Married December 27, 1855 On Sunday morning, January 12, 1908, occurred the death of Mr. R. Campbell, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. B. Blake, near Waukee. Mr. Runey Campbell was born in Gallia county, Ohio, Dec. 26, 1830. Died near Waukee, Iowa, January 12, 1908, being 77 years and 15 days of age. He was a pioneer settler of Polk county, coming in the early 40's. He, with his father and three brothers, established a small trading post with the Indians on what was then known as Racoon Ridge. The post soon grew into a thriving village and Fort Des Moines was established there, and the town took it's name from the fort. The Campbell home stood on the exact spot where the Capitol of Iowa now stands. On December, 27, 1855, he was united by marriage to Miss Euphemia Fagen of Des Moines, who died May 28, 1896. To this union eight children were born, six boys and two girls. He is survived by six children, Clarence E, Runey C, William E, Charles W, Frank and Clara V. One son and one daughter having gone on before. Since the death of his wife, nearly 12 years ago, he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. D. B. Blake, near Waukee, where he has been a sufferer for several weeks past. All was done that loving hands could do, but all to no avail. The funeral services were held at Waukee Methodist church, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, counducted by Rev. Grant of Dallas Center.
