Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the Gass-Haney Chapel in Columbus with Rev. Lee Hicks officiating. Burial is in Roselawn cemetery Columbus, NE. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at Gass-Haney Chapel. There will be a Masonic graveside service. Mr. Leggat was born Nov. 4, 1909, near Monroe to James and Harriett (Lewis) Leggat. He attended O'Kay schools and married Katherine Sheldon May 17, 1937, in Columbus. He was a lifetime resident of the area, and a long-time shoe salesman for Woodrich and Allen, and was employed at Gass-Haney Funeral Home the last 12 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1943-46 in Europe and in the Pacific. He was a member of Lebanon Lodge 323, Platte Valley York Rite and Sesostris Shrine Temple, the Pawnee Shrine Club and Jolly Wagon Unit, was past Worth Patron Harmony Chapter 12 OES, and a member of the VFW. He was a member of the Federated Church. Survivors include his wife, Katherine, of Columbus, one brother, James of Orange, CA; two sisters, Estelle Munoz, Hayward CA., and Lillian Parry of Genoa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Memorials are requested to the Federated Church or Easter Star. Columbus Telegram Sunday June 28, 1987
