Description	:	Russell Earl Smithart, 63, died March 19, 1999. He was born Feb. 4, 1936 in Sigourney, the son of William Leonard and Edith M. Seaba Smithart. He was baptized at the Christian Church. He was graduated from Sigourney High School in 1954. He was employed by General Telephone of Iowa until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. in August of 1955. They lived and farmed in... Read More	Russell Earl Smithart, 63, died March 19, 1999. He was born Feb. 4, 1936 in Sigourney, the son of William Leonard and Edith M. Seaba Smithart. He was baptized at the Christian Church. He was graduated from Sigourney High School in 1954. He was employed by General Telephone of Iowa until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. in August of 1955. He returned home in August of 1958 and resumed working for the Telephone Company. He married Sarah Deitrich on May 30, 1961 at the Evangelical and Reformed Church Parsonage in Sigourney. They lived and farmed in the Lancaster area for 38 years. In 1991 he retired from the Telephone Company after working 37 years. Later he worked at the Keokuk County Highway Department. His survivors include his wife; three daughters, Gail Weber, Terri Jo Boehm and Reta Jean Wilkins and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Elliott. Services were held March 21 at Holm Funeral Home with Vince Homan offlctating. Burial was in Doggett Cemetery, Sigourney. Clipping from unknown newspaper
