Description	:	Russell Edward Hardisty was born December 2, 1922 in Adams County, Iowa to Maggie M. (Burgett) Hardisty and Edward B. Hardisty. He was educated and grew up in the Adams County area. On July 18, 1944 he entered the US Army, serving until June 19, 1946. On October 14, 1945, he married Lois M. Falconer in Kent, Iowa. Hardisty. He was educated and grew up in the Adams County area. On July 18, 1944 he entered the US Army, serving until June 19, 1946. On October 14, 1945, he married Lois M. Falconer in Kent, Iowa. He worked for 13 years with the Creston and Ralston Farmers Co-ops, primarily in the lumber department. They owned and operated the Scranton Auto Parts in Scranton from 1962 to 1965. In 1965, they purchased the Austin Auto Parts in Afton, and operated it as the Afton Auto Parts until 1990. Russell then worked for Lindsay Funeral Homes, and then for their successor, the Powers Funeral Home in Afton, Creston and Corning. Russell was a member of the Afton United Methodist Church and the VFW Post #8882 of Afton. He was formerly a member of the Crest City Masonic Lodge #522 A.F. & A.M. of Creston and a volunteer with the Afton Fire Department. He and his wife loved to travel, wintered for years in the south, and were active with a pinochle card club. Russell is survived by his wife, Lois of Afton; two sons, Randy (wife Shelley) Hardisty of Afton and Terry (wife Kim) Hardisty of Lorimor; one daughter, Ruth (husband Lynn) White of Afton; one brother, Glenn (wife Anna Ruth) Hardisty of Prescott; three sisters, Wilma (husband Clark) Peterson of Corning, Wanda (husband Wayne) Victor of Prescott and Donna Adams of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Falconer of Afton and Alice (husband Orvin) Bowers of Creston; five grandsons, Luke (wife Casey) White, Ryan Hardisty, Drew Hardisty, Clayton White and Nathan Hardisty; two granddaughters, Taylor and Katelin Hardisty; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, one son in infancy, Roger Russell in 1956; his mother and father in-law, Ida and Paul Falconer, and three brothers-in-law, LeRoy Blazek, Ray Falconer and Dean Adams.
