Description	:	Russell "Russ" Thomas, 64, a Wenatchee Valley resident for over 40 years, passed away Wednesday morning, June 15, 2005, at Central Washington Hospital, following a short battle with cancer. He was born on August 17, 1940, at Walla Walla, WA, the son of Robert A. and Henrietta (Lamberton) Thomas. He was raised and attended schools from Wenatchee to Omak and most towns in-between. Read More	Russell "Russ" Thomas, 64, a Wenatchee Valley resident for over 40 years, passed away Wednesday morning, June 15, 2005, at Central Washington Hospital, following a short battle with cancer. He was born on August 17, 1940, at Walla Walla, WA, the son of Robert A. and Henrietta (Lamberton) Thomas. He was raised and attended schools from Wenatchee to Omak and most towns in-between. He graduated from high school at Auburn Academy in Auburn, WA. He attended college at Walla Walla College at College Place, WA, prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge he worked with the National Guard based in Ephrata and worked on the Construction of Wanapum Dam. He later joined the U.S. Navy Reserves and served as a Reservist for 16 more years. Russ met Imogene Chong while attending Walla Walla College and they were later married on Jan. 2, 1965, in Wenatchee. They have since continued to make their home in East Wenatchee. Russell went to work at Morrison Knutson in Wenatchee before working for Clyde Ballard when Ballard Ambulance started business, and worked as an EMT and Driver for eleven years. He then worked as Custodian for Wenatchee Adventist Junior Academy until starting his own Auto Detail Business, "Tidy Car" in Wenatchee. He became a Bus Driver for the Wenatchee School District and just received recognition this year for 20 years of service along with being named "Employee of the Year." He was loved by the kids on his bus route and they all called him "Mr. T". He was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination and a longtime member of the Valley View SDA Church. He was an actively involved assistant in the SDA Pathfinder Groups Program and made several trips to the Pathfinder National Camporees. Russell was also a member of American Legion, Post 10 of Wenatchee, a former member of the Eastmont Lions Club, a member of P.S.E. Union, (Public School Employees), and had been on their legislative Counsel. He especially enjoyed NASCAR Racing and NSRA Drag Racing. He was a huge fan of Mopars and the Hemi Engine. He also enjoyed photography, sports, history and political science, fishing, driving, and playing fast pitch softball. Russ is survived by his wife of 40 years, Imogene Thomas at home; two children, William "Bill" Thomas, Wenatchee and Leilani Dipaula, Seattle; his father, Robert "Bob" Thomas, Alta Lake; two sisters, Leona Thomas, Brewster and Jani Trousdale, Seattle; his surrogate daughter, Lori Thomas, Seattle; mother-in-law, Christine Chong, Honolulu, HI; brother-in-law and his wife, Albert Chong Jr. and Sandy of Honolulu, HI; five grandchildren, Catherine Thomas, East Wenatchee, Dylan Dipaula, Maimi, FL, Leland Thomas, Cashmere, Dai-Lynn Thomas and Ayden Thomas both of Wenatchee; his nieces, Erin Goss, Renton, Bridget Yu and Jacqueline Rodriguez both of Honolulu, HI, Krystal and Celeste Chong both of Maui, HI and his nephews, Robert Trousdale, Seattle and Kendall Yu, Honolulu, HI. He was preceded in death by his mother, Henrietta Thomas. Services of Commemoration will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wenatchee Seventh-day Adventist Church, 508 N. Western Avenue, with Pastors Wayne Hicks and Shane Struthers officiating. Concluding Services and the Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from noon to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions in Russell's name to any Wells Fargo Bank Branch. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
