Funeral services will be Thursday October 10th 2013 at the First Church of God at 10:30 a.m. with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Surls Funeral Home in Iowa Falls. Russell Wayne Newton was born on July 3, 1927 to Louis and Susie (Buzzell) Newton in Iowa Falls. Russell attended Maple Grove Lee Township # 7 Country School and graduated from Iowa Falls High School where he was a member of FFA in 1944. On November 14, 1949, Russell was united in marriage to Ruth Irene Clark in the Church of the Open Bible. He has a farming partnership with his brother Melvin; know as Newton Brothers for many years. Later Russell was employed by the Iowa Falls Community School District as a custodian for 23 years. He was also employed by the Super 8 in Iowa Falls until he retired. Russell was a member of the Church of the Open Bible for 59 years where he served on the church board and communion board for a number of years. He enjoyed farming, fixing things and spending time with his family. He is survived by his five children Marlys (Dale) Bahr of Iowa Falls, Dennis Newton of Des Moines, Harold Newton of Iowa Falls, Beth (Dick) Kaiser of Des Moines and Wendell (Lina) Newton of Iowa Falls; two sisters-in-law Lucille Newton of New York Mills, MN and Marian Newton of Peyton, CO; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; granddaughter Kimberly Newton; sisters Arolene Clifton, Thelma Whisler and Lois Netwon and brothers Lavern, Wendell, Roland and Melvin Newton.
