Description	:	Ruth Alta (Hoyt) Dunn, age 88, passed away on Dec. 25, 2015 at the Stanton County Long Term Care in Johnson, Kan. She was the daughter of Arthur Roy Hoyt and Minnie Henrieta (Peters) Hoyt. Ruth was born in rural Sumner County, near Caldwell, Kan. on Aug. 25, 1927. Read More	Ruth Alta (Hoyt) Dunn, age 88, passed away on Dec. 25, 2015 at the Stanton County Long Term Care in Johnson, Kan. She was the daughter of Arthur Roy Hoyt and Minnie Henrieta (Peters) Hoyt. Ruth was born in rural Sumner County, near Caldwell, Kan. on Aug. 25, 1927. She attended grade school in a rural, one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1945. Shortly after high school she moved to Syracuse, Kan., where she began working at the Valley State Bank. On Nov. 6, 1948, she married Robert L. Dunn in Syracuse and they made their home in Syracuse. To this union three children were born, Craig, Lori, and Macel. She later worked for the Plateau Natural Gas Company and the Catalina Dress Shop. In 1970, she went to work for the Hamilton County Conservation District where she was employed for 20 years and retired in 1990. In 2010, she moved to Johnson to be closer to her daughter Lori. In 2013, she moved to Stanton County Long Term Care in Johnson where she resided until her passing. Ruth was a 20 year member of the Rebekah Lodge and also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, both of Syracuse. For several years she was a Brownie Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, and a Sunday School teacher for the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed bowling, quilting, antiquing, gardening and canning vegetables for her family. Ruth loved her children and spoiled her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Minnie Hoyt; her spouse, Robert Dunn; a son, Craig E. Dunn; three brothers, Elmer Hoyt, Harley Hoyt, and Dale Hoyt; five sisters, Inez Kohlhorst, Ester Walters, Elsie Maxey, Ruby Woodley, and Opal Walkinshaw; and two grandchildren, Donnie L. Caplinger and Lexi M. Caplinger. She is survived by two daughters, Lori (& husband Jim) Amerin of Johnson, and Macel (& husband Gary) Caplinger of Larned, Kan.; five grandchildren, Cory (& wife Sumre) Amerin of Manhattan, Kan., Marcus (& wife Dandi) Amerin of Hugoton, Kan., Nathan Amerin of Scott City, Kan., Evan Dunn of Denver, Colo., and Adriane Dunn of Great Bend, Kan.; four great grandchildren, Danica & Averie Amerin of Hugoton, Cayden Amerin of Scott City, and Isaac Amerin of Manhattan; as well as numerous family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. (MST) at the First Presbyterian Church in Syracuse. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. (MST) at the Fellers Funeral Home LLC, Syracuse.
