Ruth Ann was born on March 15, 1929, to Henry and Anna (Faust) Arensmeier. She graduated from Hubbard High School in 1946. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Ruth Ann was born on March 15, 1929, to Henry and Anna (Faust) Arensmeier. She graduated from Hubbard High School in 1946. Except for attending Westmar College for one year, Ruth has lived in the Hubbard area all her life. On Nov. 28, 1947, Ruth and Elmo Richard Gelhaus were united in marriage at Salem E.U.B. Church. They resided on the farm where Richard was born until retirement in 1990 when they established a home in Hubbard. The family grew to include four daughters and two sons. Ruth was a homemaker, devoted to her family and their activities. For several years Ruth decorated cakes for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and other special occasions. She enjoyed all sorts of family activities, including camping trips and assisting at saddle club horse shows and events. Ruth was a faithful member of Salem United Methodist Church and helped in various capacities there. Our family learned we are all equal no matter what race. Ruth and Richard were great examples to teach their family to help others whenever possible. We were richly blessed by their love and support. Preceding Ruth in death were her parents, husband Richard ("Dick"), sons-in-law Robert Hilley and Gary Pease, and sister Arlene Scase. Those thankful for having shared her life include four daughters: Annette Pease of Cedar Falls, IA; Nancy Hilley of Perkins, OK; Beth (Dale) Allman of Laporte, CO; Debra (Mark) Baker of Cheney, WA; two sons: David (Diane) Gelhaus of Marshfield, MO, and Steven of Port St. Lucie, FL; 11 grandchildren: Angela (Drew) Waseskuk, Josie Hilley, Thomas Hilley, Jeffrey (Danielle) Allman, Andrew (Sarah) Allman, Amy (Craig) Keeton, Lisa Allman, Tim (Jamie) Allman, Travis Baker, Tanya Baker, Teresa (Dean) Conrad, and 14 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church for missions, Heifer International, or Holt International Children's Services.
