(Armstrong) SEVERNS, 92, Anderson, died Saturday at Community Hospital, Anderson, following an extended illness. Born in Summitville, she was the daughter of Perry and Anna (Gardner) Armstrong. She lived in Rochester for 27 years, Summitville and Anderson for the balance of her lifetime. Ruth was a homemaker and member of the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed needlework, sewing and crocheting. She loved to share her handiwork with family and friends alike. She is survived by two daughters, Rita (Donald) Golden, Anderson, and Joyce (Charles) Hight, Alexandria; a sister, Velma Elsworth, Anderson; a daughter-in-law, Sue Castor, Fort Myers Fla.; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 27 years, Orville Severns, in 1994; a son, Max Castor, in 2008. Her funeral service will be at noon Tuesday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Mark Diemer of Alexandria Church of the Nazarene officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Family and friends are invited to the interment service at 1 p.m. Saturday at IOOF Cemetery, Rochester. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Alexandria Church of the Nazarene through the funeral home. The family would like to extend their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the nursing stall of 3 South at Community Hospital–Anderson. Dr. R.
