LaPoint, 84, formerly of 827 Albia Road, died at 7:15 a.m. Dec. 9, 1986, at the Good Samaritan Center. She was born July 25, 1902, in Coshocton [sic] County, Ohio, to Ervin and Emily Doud Myzer [sic]. A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, she was of the Pentecostal faith. She married Lester Gookin in 1921. He died in 1928. She married Otto Eugene LaPoint in 1945; he died in 1957. She is survived by a niece, Imogene Kleinhen of Fostoria, Ohio; a nephew, Howard Crawford of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two stepsons, Paul LaPoint of Ottumwa, and Phillip LaPoint of Rolling Hills, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Ruth Conner and Bette Parent of Albuquerque, N.M.; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. The service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. George King of Foursquare Evangelistic Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
