A native of McCausland, Mrs. Moorhead, the former Ruth Yocum, was born Oct. 27, 1902. She attended Scott county schools, graduating from Davenport high school, and attended Augustana college and the Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. Spending her early life in Princeton township, Mrs. Moorhead came to Davenport in 1918. Her marriage to Mr. Moorhead took place in Princeton township Dec. 22, 1928. She was a member of First Presbyterian church of Davenport, a charter member of the Nina Kuppinger King's Daughters Circle, and for a number of years had taught a Sunday school class of the church. Her mother died in 1942. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Joyce, at home; a son, Lt. Wayne Moorhead, Newport News, Va.; her father, J.C. Yocum, Princeton; a sister, Mrs. Chaplin D. Moorhead, Princeton, and two grandsons. The body was removed to Hill & Fredericks mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel there. Burial will be in Blue Grass cemetery. Daily Times - Friday - May 19, 1950 Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Ruth Moorhead were held at 3 p.m. today in Hill & Fredericks chapel, the Rev. Marion Lemon, assisted by the Rev. Everett Moorhead, officiating. Clarence Moulder was soloist, accompanied by Kenneth Peterson at the organ. Burial was in Blue Grass cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas Turner, Thomas Rice, Lyle Waddell, James Hanson, Paul Chamberlain and George Lorimer.
