She was born on October 13, 1935, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, to Margaret Naomi Gardner and William Wilmer Keedy. She graduated May 10, 1951 from Nemaha High School. Searcey, 69, (formerly of Virginia, Nebraska) died on Friday, September 30, 2005, at her home in Beatrice, Nebraska. She was born on October 13, 1935, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, to Margaret Naomi Gardner and William Wilmer Keedy. She graduated May 10, 1951 from Nemaha High School. She lettered in volleyball, played in the band, participated in pep squad and Glee Cub. She won numerous awards playing the clarinet. She was Apple Bowl Queen of Nebraska City in 1950. On August 29, 1953, she married Keith Clair Searcey. She was employed for many years at FormFit of Beatrice and the Beatrice State Developmental Center. She retired in 2000 to take care of her son, Brian, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Liberty Christian Church, where she and Keith were actively involved as leaders for the youth group. Ruth taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She and Keith were also members of a square dance group. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, watching her grandchildren at sporting events, sewing, cooking, cake decorating, and helped out for many years on their farm at rural Virginia. SURVIVORS: Husband: Keith Clair Searcey of Beatrice, a son Scott Allen Searcey and wife Darlene of Wymore, Nebraska; Daughter: Linda Kay Searcey of Virginia and friend, Jay Furtado; Amy Meyer of Wahoo; Grandchildren: Jeremy, Lacey and Tiffany Hill, Greg Baehr, Ron and Cara Lantz, Caden Searcey, and Kiaya Myers; Brother: John Albert Keedy and wife, Sharon Kay, of Blue Springs, Nebraska; Mother-In-Law: Lillie Searcey of Beatrice, Nebraska; Nieces and Nephews. PRECEDED IN DEATH: Parents: William and Margaret (Gardner) Keedy; Brother: William Eugene Keedy; Son: Brian Neal Searcey (November 19, 2002). Memorial Service: 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 7, 2005, at Liberty Christian Church, Liberty, Nebraska. Officiating: Jim Hackel. There will be no visitation. A register book is available online at www.harmanwrightmortuary.com for messages of condolence. Memorial has been established to the Caden Searcey Memorial Fund with John and Sharon Keedy in charge. Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice, in charge of arrangements.
