Description	:	Ruth E. Custer, 92, 04888 Domersville Road, died at 5:53 p.m. Monday in Defiance Hospital. She was born July 28, 1905, in Defiance County, the daughter of Ephraim and Florence (Stotler) Travis. In 1928, she married Carl Hornish, who died in 1937. In 1952, she married Charles Custer, who survives. She attended Ohio Northern, Manchester College, Bowling Green State University and Defiance College, receiving a bachelor's degree in education. Custer, 92, 04888 Domersville Road, died at 5:53 p.m. Monday in Defiance Hospital. She was born July 28, 1905, in Defiance County, the daughter of Ephraim and Florence (Stotler) Travis. In 1928, she married Carl Hornish, who died in 1937. In 1952, she married Charles Custer, who survives. She attended Ohio Northern, Manchester College, Bowling Green State University and Defiance College, receiving a bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary school for 23 years in North Richland Adams and Tiffin Township schools before retiring in 1964. She was a member of Defiance County's Retired Teachers' Association and a member of Poplar Ridge Churach of the Brethren. She taught Sunday school and Bible school and served on various church committees. Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Nofziger, Defiance; two step-sons, David of Defiance and Dan, Marysville; and seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and a great-step grandchild. Also preceding her in death was a great grandchild. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Poplar Ridge Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Glen Whisler officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Ridge Cemetery.
