The former Ruth Elaine Connole was born October 30, 1926 in DeWitt, the daughter of Irene (Flannery) and Ralph Connole. Ruth married Clare Hodson May 23, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. She attended nurses training at Mercy Hospital in Clinton and finished her degree as an RN in St. Paul, Minnesota. (Mrs. Clare) Hodson, 78, DeWitt, Iowa, died Thursday morning, February 10, 2005 at Westwing Place, DeWitt. The former Ruth Elaine Connole was born October 30, 1926 in DeWitt, the daughter of Irene (Flannery) and Ralph Connole. Ruth married Clare Hodson May 23, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. She attended nurses training at Mercy Hospital in Clinton and finished her degree as an RN in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ruth worked as a nurse anesthetist at the DeWitt Hospital for 37 years until retirement in 1989. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and the American Legion Auxillary. Ruth was also a Scout Leader and enjoyed cooking, gardening, the outdoors and family. Surviving are her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Clare; their children, Annette (John) Henderson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Michael (Nancy) Hodson, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Cynthia Hodson, Cedar Rapids; Maureen (Bill) Henry, Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Lisa Henderson, Erin Henderson, Dana Henderson, Sean Henderson, Claire Hodson, Joseph Hodson, Billy Henry and Patrick Henry; a great-grandson, Reis (Henderson) Savage; two sisters, Nadine Connole and MargEl Mangan, DeWitt. Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Lois Griebel. The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, February 13, 2005. Vigil service 6 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Liturgy of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Church. The Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness officiating. Interment in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Micah Gustafson, Greg Mangan, Bryan Mangan, Mitchell Mangan, Robert Barber and Jerry Green.
