Scott, Kansas went to be with the Lord early Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at the Fort Scott Manor. She was born July 17, 1935, in Fowler, Colorado, the daughter of Edgar Henry Graham and Laura May Henrie Graham. Ruth graduated from Blue Mound High School. She married Lindel R. Townsley on June 21, 1953, at Ft. Scott. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2001. In her earlier years, Ruth was employed by the Western Insurance Company. She later began a career with the U. S. Postal Service. She worked for several years in Fort Scott and later served as Post Master for both Mapleton and Bronson. She enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Bethel Community Church. Survivors include her two children; Linda Gier and husband, Roger, of Uniontown, Kansas and Lindel Townsley, Jr. and wife, Soon Mee, of Rogers, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Also surviving are a brother, Ed Graham and wife, Nancy, Uniontown, Kansas; and two sisters, Betty Oharah and husband, Jerry, Uniontown, Kansas and Nancy Corrao and husband, Patrick, Edgefield, South Carolina. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Pastor Greg Stine will conduct funeral services at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 8th at the Bethel Community Church. Burial will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Bethel Community Church Building Fund.
