Description	:	Ruth Ellen Good, the youngest daughter of Samuel and Anna (Nancy) Roberts Good, was born in Cambria County Pa.; Feb 17,1836 and departed this life in Ottumwa, Dec. 15, 1921, and departed this life, being 85 years, 9 month and 25 days ago. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1844, stoping in Burlington, Iowa for a short time and then comming to Jefferson County. Read More	Ruth Ellen Good, the youngest daughter of Samuel and Anna (Nancy) Roberts Good, was born in Cambria County Pa.; Feb 17,1836 and departed this life in Ottumwa, Dec. 15, 1921, and departed this life, being 85 years, 9 month and 25 days ago. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1844, stoping in Burlington, Iowa for a short time and then comming to Jefferson County. Here she lost her parents and then made her home with her sister, near Delta, Keokuk County, In 1852 she was untied in marriage to William Priest and nine childern were born to them, 6 of whom are living. Her husband and three childern preceded her in death. She was a devoted wife and a mother always thinking of others and most happy when was seving others.. She leaves to mourn their loss of four daughters and two sons; Amanda Mefford of Albia Ia; Penola Carkhuff, Marshalltown Iowa; Martha Kirwin of Ottumwa; Eliza Lowry of Ottumwa; William Priest; of Ottumwa, and Arthur Priest of Sigourney. There are 14 grandchildern, 30 great grandchildern, and 3 great great grandchildern. She lived most of her life in and near Sigourney. Ia.; doing her part in developing a new country into such a land as we have today. Her religion was lived evey day in little deeds of kindness and service. Her life ripened into a beautifull sunset in which she anxiously awaited the summons to her master. Services conducted at the home of Arthur Priest by Rev. M. D. Cox on Thursday Dec 15, 1921 at 2:30 p. m. Interment was made in the West cemetery. Also there was a card of thanks; We wish to thank our neighbors and friends for there kindness and to help in our great sorrow, and also for the beautiful flowers. Arthur C. Priest brother & sisters. Ruth Ellen (Good ) Priest Mother is Nancy (Anna) (Roberts ) Her mother died in 1852 in Jefferson Co. Iowa. Her father is Samuel Good he died in Gage Neb. in 1888. Her mother Nancy (Anna)Roberts & father Samuel Good, They became residents of Jefferson County In 1846, in Des Moines Township where Mr. Good carried on farming until about 1850, when attracted by the discovery of gold, he made a overland trip to California . Twenty - two years he spent in that state returning to Jefferson Co. Iowa in 1872 . His death was in Gage Co. Neb. in 1888. His wife died 1852 in Jefferson Co. Iowa . Iowa - find a grave No # 71931367 He married Marie Bertha Smith Nov. 17, 1915 Des Moines, Polk Co Iowa By Edwin J. Fisk J.P. she was born Jan. 19, 1899 - Des Moines, Polk Co. Iowa - Died Oct 15, 1967 - Des Moines, Polk Co. Iowa find a grave #79131363 Father - Elisa Smith - 1872 - Oct 13, 1911 Mother - Amelia L Fischer - born Aug. 17, 1872 - died - July 8, 1968 We made a trip to Sigourney July 7, 2010 to find Ruth's headstone and there is not one. Also the cemetery records did not have her listed but south of her son Arthur are 6 plots and they could not tell us who was buried in those 6 plots.So back then if you did not have a headstone there are no recods of who is buried in those plots. Both cemetries the East Cemetery and West cemetery (which is now known as Pleasant grove cemetry had very poor records. Ruth is buried in Pleasant grove probably her husband william Priest also.Next to there son Arthur Priest. 2nd Great- Grandmother
