Life long Vancouver, WA resident, Ruth Ellen Fradenburg, packed her bags and took her flight to Jesus on Memorial Day May 30, 2011. Her last day was spent in bed, surrounded by family taking turns sitting with her and showing expressions of love. Ruth was born in Vancouver and graduated from Vancouver High School in June 1938 and later from Clark Junior College in June 1940. Ruth was actively employed most of her life. She worked part time while she attended school and during WW II. Ruth had worked at editing as a teenager and could always be counted on to find the mistake in any printed material. She was our resource for spelling and definitions. After she married Richard A. Fradenburg June 27, 1942 and had two children. She returned to work in 1955, working for an architect firm. In 1960 she began working for Emanuel Hospital in the medical records department. She then was employed in medical records at Vancouver Memorial Hospital where she worked until retiring at the age of 70. She spent many nights and weekends taking classes to earn a degree as a certified medical transcriptionist. Ruth consistently spoke to those she didn't know and struck up conversations. She loved people and her face lit up when she was with someone. With doctors, she didn't speak about her issues but wanted to know how the doctor and their family were. Ruth was baptized Dec. 12, 1948 at Trinity Baptist Church and was always active in several churches. She joined the Senior groups at Brush Prairie Baptist, Felida Baptist, and helped fold bulletins and assisted in the nursery of New Heights until the age of 80. She also assisted with mailings for Open House Ministries. She sent out newsletters for missionaries. Ruth was very social and enjoyed travel, reading, board games and crossword puzzles. Ruth is survived by her four children: Nancy Howard (Cougar, WA), Carol Edwards (Vancouver, WA), Sylvia Collins (Vancouver, WA), Jon Fradenburg (Amboy,WA); six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Granny"; and sister, Roberta Kytola (Vancouver, WA). Ruth's husband preceded her in death in 1982. A memorial service will be held at Felida Baptist Church, 3027 NW 119th St., Vancouver, WA 98685 on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to Gideons.
