Description	:	Ruth Brown, 90, Dallas Center, Iowa, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Rush Family Chapel with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery in rural Soldier, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Ruth Esther Brown was born March 25, 1921 in Monona County, Iowa, the daughter of Adam R. and Gertrude (Blowers) Gray. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011 at Rush Family Chapel with Pastor Don Collison officiating. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery in rural Soldier, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Ruth Esther Brown was born March 25, 1921 in Monona County, Iowa, the daughter of Adam R. and Gertrude (Blowers) Gray. She graduated from Onawa High School in 1938. After graduation Ruth was secretary in the Monona County Clerk Office. Ruth and Vernon N. Brown were united in marriage January 11, 1942 at Sioux City, Iowa. After Vernon's discharge from the United States Navy in 1945, the couple made their home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Ruth was employed at Jennie Edmunson Hospital for 17 years and Commercial Federal Bank in Omaha 14 years. Vernon passed away July 28, 1981. Ruth resided in Council Bluffs until 2006 when she returned to Onawa for a short time before moving to Dallas Center to be near her family. She was a member of East Side Christian Church at Council Bluffs; Harmony Chapter 25 Order of the Eastern Star at Council Bluffs, PEO in Council Bluffs and Jennie Edmunson Auxiliary for many years. Survivors include a daughter Kristine Hook of Waukee, IA; three grandchildren, Janelle (Heath) Current, Janet (Don) Fath and Andrew Hook; five great grandchildren, Kara, Zachary and Emily Current and Caleb and Rebekah Wiles; a sister, Vernice Wolfe of Bel Air, MD and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jeffrey Hook; eight sisters, Hazel Merkley, Mable Framke, Ferne Kinion, Ida Fox, Edna Benson, Pearl Gray, Jean Christiansen and Dona Davis and a brother, Milo Gray.
