Daughter of the late Frederick Auburn Slider and the late Ettie Mabel Gracey, Ruth married the love of her life, Leroy F. "Pete" Hartsock on December 11, 1948. Read More	OLDTOWN, MARYLAND —- Ruth Etta Hartsock, born May 17, 1932 at North Branch, MD, by the Railroad and the C&O Canal, completed her journey on this Earth on August 13, 2021. Daughter of the late Frederick Auburn Slider and the late Ettie Mabel Gracey, Ruth married the love of her life, Leroy F. "Pete" Hartsock on December 11, 1948. They built their own little house in Oldtown in 1950 and there raised their children, Leroy Craig and Rebecca Ruth. Preceding her in death besides her parents, were her husband, Pete, who was her everything, and her precious granddaughter, Cheyenne Autumn (who she was so proud of her ability to jump her horse so high), her in-laws, Charles and Margaret (Steckman) Hartsock, brothers-in-law, Kenneth (and Freida Pearl), and Edwin Hartsock, and on her family's side, her brothers, Russell, and Earl (Beckie) Slider, sister, Dorothy (Bruce) Dolly, and a nephew whom she loved dearly, Earl Slider, Jr. She is survived by her son, Leroy Craig Hartsock (Tara), and their daughter, Savannah and family; daughter, Rebecca (Randy), their children, Amy Jo Stout (Mike), and Cody (Charite). Mom really enjoyed when Cody came and helped her with her house. She never forgot his kindness. She is also survived by Amy's children, whom she cherished their weekly visits all these years; Brandon, Gina, and David never failed to come see her and give her hugs. Mom is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary Slider and Alice Hartsock. It would not be right not to mention a very special niece that was Mom's "Other Daughter," Sandra Slider Ritchie. She was everything to Mom. Before Mom's final moment, I told her she could go to Daddy and Cheyenne, they were waiting for her and she could now actually see them after years of being blind. Two tiny tears formed in her eye, as if she really could see them. Her hand relaxed in mine, and she passed over. She is finally free, and I bet petting a beautiful Buckskin horse with her granddaughter smiling down at her. Services will be private. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, beside her Pete.
