Feller sang "Jesus, Lover of my Soul" and Rev. Feller then preached the sermon, taking as his text Zacharia 14:7. The brief services were concluded with another solo "Abide With Me" by Mrs Feller. The body was taken Thursday evening to Lost Nation, Iowa, the old family home of the Hills, where interment was made by the side of Mrs. Hill's husband. Her daughter, Mrs Pearl Blue, of Colorado, and son Theodore, of Huron, were the only relatives who were present from a distance. Ruth Farrell was born July 22, 1846 at Quebec, Canada. When she was 12 years old, the family came to Iowa and settled on a farm near Lost Nation. In 1863 she was married to John Hill. Of the seven children born to this union, one died in infancy and six survive her. They are Ulysses of Oderbolt, Theodore of Huron, SD, Roland of Greeley, CO, Mrs James Irwin of Early, Earl of Greiv, CO, and Mrs John D Blue of Sterling, CO. The family lived near Lost Nation until 1895 when Mr Hill died. Soon after Mrs Hill moved to Mt Vernon with the 2 children still at home and there she passed the next 11 years of her life. Since 1907 she has lived with her children who have rejoiced in honoring her who did so much for them. The last 3 years have been largely spent with her daughter, Mrs James Irwin. For the past 14 years she had been in failing health and her last illness began 6 months ago. Though she seemed to rally from her bronchial trouble and heart failure, she never regained sufficient strength to enable her to combat the "flu" which set in Friday March 6. On Tuesday afternoon, with a little company of loved ones faithfully watching by her side, she answered the final summons of Him, who said "Come Unto Me All Ye Who Labor and Are Heavy Laden, and I Will Give You Rest." She was of a kind, loving disposition and found her greatest joy in doing good. Her home always found its needs and opportunities first in her life. As a girl of 16, she joined the church and was throughout her life a faithful and devoted member, ennobling her own life and teaching her children the path in which they should go. "Earth's loss is heaven's gain." Besides the children mentioned above, Mrs Hill is also survived by one sister, Mrs E.E. Corson of Rockwell City, IA, and 4 brothers, Lorenzo of Gray, Lincoln of Carroll, Ben of Irwin and Emery of Manning.
