Description	:	Ruth Francelia Joy, fifth child of Lewis and Bertha (Clark) Joy, was born December 25, 1899 at Strawberry Point, Iowa and died April 15, 1983 at Decatur County Hospital, Leon, Iowa. She was 83 years, 3 months, and 21 days of age. Ruth was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the age of nine years. Read More	Ruth Francelia Joy, fifth child of Lewis and Bertha (Clark) Joy, was born December 25, 1899 at Strawberry Point, Iowa and died April 15, 1983 at Decatur County Hospital, Leon, Iowa. She was 83 years, 3 months, and 21 days of age. Ruth was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the age of nine years. Even though she was a young child her life was built around this commitment, remaining forever true and faithful to the end. Ruth's early childhood was spent at Strawberry Point. At the age of 12 the family moved to Beloit, Wisconsin, which remained her home until her marriage. She came to Graceland College in 1917 and returned the second semester of the 1919-1920 school year. Ruth married Rothmer A. Scott on April 13, 1921. To this union four children were born: Mara Lea, Edward Lewis, John Clark, and Paul Ervin. They lived in Kellerton, Macksburg, and New London, Iowa. In 1945 the family moved to Lamoni. At this time they purchased the Coffee Shoppe which was managed by their son, Edward and son-in-law, Scott Hetherington. Ruth was employed for 20 years as secretary to the superintendent of schools serving in this capacity under four superintendenets. Part of these years she was also secretary to the school board. Rothmer died in 1955, and Ruth continued living in Lamoni. She was a member of the As you Like It Club, Omnes Amicae, and enjoyed various social activities. She especially enjoyed serving and attending all services in the church. On August 27, 1978 Ruth married Archie H. Rew. Each of their home lives were enhanced through this companionship. They enjoyed their visiting ministry together. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved Grandpa Archie. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Rothmer; sons Paul, John, and Edward; two brothers and one sister. Ruth is survived by her husband Archie; daughter Mara Lea Hetherington and husband Scott; daughter-in-law Doris Scott; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Neil and Truman Rew and families; two sisters, Grace Drew, Marie Luce and husband Harry; one brother Don Joy and wife Florence; two sisters-in-laws, Ardis Richards and Vivian Sawyer; one brother-in-law, Dale Scott and wife Juanita; many nieces, nephews, and friends. published in The Lamoni Chronicle 4-27-1983
