Ruth Genevieve Olson (fondly known as Gen) was born in Wright County, IA to Elias and Bertha (Wicks) Olson on September 17, 1925. Gen was the youngest of six children to include Bernice Olson Severtson, Orville Olson, Ernest Olson, Marjorie Olson, and Eleanor Olson Eye; all of whom are deceased. She attended and graduated from Clarion High School. Gen worked as a Telephone Operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years retiring in 1982. While working for the company she and her sister, Eleanor, lived and worked in Ames, Des Moines, Denver, Colorado, and Minneapolis. After retiring Gen continued to live in Minneapolis where she enjoyed being outside, taking walks around the various lakes, and spending time with family and friends.
