Ruth was born on July 15, 1921 in Holdrege, NE. the fourth of six children of Sam Truman and Helen (Sauer) Schrock. She was baptized in the Methodist Church as a small child. Read More	Ruth Genevieve (Schrock) Larson, of Kearney, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege), passed away June 23, 2009 in Kearney, NE. Ruth was born on July 15, 1921 in Holdrege, NE. the fourth of six children of Sam Truman and Helen (Sauer) Schrock. She was baptized in the Methodist Church as a small child. Ruth received her education at Holdrege, graduating at Holdrege High School with the class of 1939. Following her education, Ruth worked for Montgomery Ward and Fidelity Insurance in Omaha. During WWII, she was employed as a bookkeeper at the Prisoner of War Camp at Atlanta, Nebraska for three years until her fiancé, Burthon Raymond Larson came home from the war. On September 2, 1945, Ruth and Burt were united in marriage and to this union three children were born: Mary Ann, Teresa and Dudley. They made their home on the Larson family farm south of Axtell for thirty years. They moved to Holdrege in 1969, where Ruth was employed at the Holdrege Medical Clinic as a receptionist for 23 years until her retirement. In March of 2007, Burt and Ruth moved to Kearney to be near family. The couple were devoted to each other for 63 years of marriage. Ruth was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell and Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege, where she was active with the Lutheran Women's Ministries. She was also active as a 4-H leader in Axtell, was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and enjoyed many friendship bonds formed through the years as a member of the Help One Another women's club for fifty years. Ruth taught Sunday school and volunteered her services calling for the Blood Mobile for many years. She and Burt enjoyed square dancing and playing Somerset. She will be remembered for sharing her famous Swedish rye bread with family and friends. Ruth enjoyed making quilts, generously giving them to family and friends. She also enjoyed family celebrations, visiting with neighbors and loving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Burt of Kearney; daughter, Teresa Murray and her husband, Max of Kearney, son, Dudley Larson and his wife, Sally of Lawrence, Kansas; three grandchildren: Chadd Murray and his wife, Dawn of Kearney, Angela Philbrick and her husband, Trent of Gering, Nebraska, and Brett Larson of Hebron, Nebraska; seven great-grandchildren: Austin, Nathan, Colin, Justin and Joslyn Murray and Taylor and Lauren Philbrick; sister, Helen Hendricks of David City, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Ruth Dyke of Lincoln, Nebraska and Eileen Schrock of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Larson at nine months of age; two sisters: Patty Leff and her husband, Charles and Violet Morrison and her husband, Forrest; two brothers: Truman Schrock in infancy and Sam Schrock Jr.; and brothers-in-law: Harlan Hendricks, Robert Dyke and Roy Larson.
