Description	:	Ruth (Sarver) Hergert of Spokane WA, died peacefully on February 4, 2012 at Riverview Lutheran Care Center. She was born to J. Edgar and Hazel Sarver on August 11, 1918 in their home at Mockonema, WA. She was their only daughter, she had six brothers. Read More	Ruth (Sarver) Hergert of Spokane WA, died peacefully on February 4, 2012 at Riverview Lutheran Care Center. She was born to J. Edgar and Hazel Sarver on August 11, 1918 in their home at Mockonema, WA. She was their only daughter, she had six brothers. She graduated from Colfax High in 1936 and attended Kinman Business School in Spokane. As WWII started she was working for the County Draft Board in Colfax. In 1943 she joined the WAVES and underwent training at Hunter College in New York City and Stillwater, OK. She was stationed in Seattle, it was the adventure of a lifetime and she was very proud of her service. Following the war she returned to Colfax and went to work in the Whitman County Engineers office. While working there she met her future husband, Taft Hergert. They were married on April 9, 1948 in the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott. A few years later they moved to Endicott where they would raise their family of two boys, Phillip and John and one girl, Laureen. Ruth worked as the Endicott City Treasurer and for the WA St Department of Social and Health Services in Colfax. She retired in 1980. Eventually they would move to Spokane. In 1996 they would move to Riverview Lutheran Retirement Community in Spokane where they would live the rest of their lives. Her husband Taft died in 1997. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Endicott and Christ Lutheran Church (now Advent Lutheran) in Spokane Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Taft and five brothers, Howard, DeLance, Harold, Stanley, and Paul. She is survived by her sons, Phillip Hergert (Debi) of Colfax, WA, John Hergert (Mary Kaye) of Pasco, WA, her daughter Laureen King (Rob) of Aloha, OR, and her 4 grandchildren, Andrea Hergert, Joshua Hergert, Samuel King and Kyle Hergert, her brother, Lawrence of Colfax, and several sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She was loved by all and will be missed by her family and her many friends. There will be a celebration of her life at Riverview Lutheran Retirement Community on February 13 at 10:00 AM. It will be followed by a graveside service at the Mockonema Cemetery, in Endicott, WA at 3:00 PM, with a reception and light meal to follow at Trinity Lutheran Church. Viewing will be Thursday and Friday from 9 to 5 at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax and also on Sunday from 1 to 3. Her family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Lutheran Care Center for the wonderful and personal care she received in the last months of her life.
