Ruth was born in East Palestine, Ohio on December 14, 1918, the first daughter of the late Robert and Florence (Ashbridge) Zilk, and lived most of her lifetime in East Palestine, with the exception of a few years in Alisia, Pennsylvania and Youngstown, Ohio. Ruth was born in East Palestine, Ohio on December 14, 1918, the first daughter of the late Robert and Florence (Ashbridge) Zilk, and lived most of her lifetime in East Palestine, with the exception of a few years in Alisia, Pennsylvania and Youngstown, Ohio. Ruth graduated East Palestine High School in1936 and the Youngstown Business College in 1937, where she was a member and officer of Alpha Iota Sorority. She had been employed by the Youngstown Law Firm of Barnum, Hammond, Stephens & Hoyt; The United States Commissioner; during WW II for the Attorney of the Office of Price Control; the Union Commercial Bank; the First National Bank; and served 16 years as the Treasurer of the East Palestine Board of Education, retiring in 1979. Ruth was a lifelong member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in East Palestine, where she served many years as a Sunday school teacher, Methodist Youth Fellowship leader, and nearly all of the church committees. She was also a member of the Wesley Wed Sunday School Class, Church Women United, and the United Methodist Women where she served as President, Vice-President, Circle Chairperson, and various other offices. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and also served 18 years as secretary for the FISH Board (Friends in Sending Help). Her hobbies included baking wonderful cookies and cakes, writing poetry and caring for her family. Her poems were used in many church services, school functions and special occasions in the lives of friends and family. On March 29, 2011 her church family honored her during the church service by presenting her and members of her family with books of all the poetry she had written. She married the love of her life, John E. "Jack" Rudloff on December 5, 1942 and he predeceased her on April 13, 2011 after 68 years of marriage. Every day of their married life, Ruth and Jack shared time for Bible Devotions, a practice she continued until her passing. Her greatest joy in life was her family and being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are son Attorney Randil (Magistrate Deborah) Rudloff of Cortland, son Larry (Lisa) Rudloff of East Palestine, Daughter-in-Law Susann Rudloff of Cordova, Tn., five grandchildren: Mandy (Attorney Jeremy Thornton); Brad (Heather) Rudloff; Dr. Matthew (Dr. Krista) Rudloff; Attorney Andrew (Dr. Ashley) Rudloff; Dr. Nicholas (Dr. Erin) Rudloff; seven great grandchildren: AnnMarie, Jack, Julianna, Ella, Carter, Wyatt and Ava Rudloff; and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her younger sister Jean Kidd of Indianapolis, Indiana. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Centenary United Methodist Church in East Palestine with the Rev. Ron Spore and Rev. Mark McTrustry co-officiating. A video celebrating Ruth's life will be viewed prior to the service and a time of fellowship will be held after the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Oliver 12-4-2016
