She was born Oct. 9, 1923, in Milo, the daughter of Leroy and Mary (Crockett) Hoskins. [Maine Death Records, 1960-1996: Leroy J Hoskins died in Bangor on 20 May 1971 at age 74 and Mary E Hoskins died in Dexter on 23 Nov 1977 at age 78.] She resided in Milo for the majority of her life, until the last few years when she lived in Bangor and Rockville, Conn. She was very involved in activities in Milo and during the years she developed a number of friendships with many of these coming from the time she operated Village Gift Shoppe, Milo, which she enjoyed daily. Throughout the years, she was also involved with her family whom she loved dearly. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Varney and husband, Dennis, of Ellington, Conn.; one son, Dwight Clark and wife, Mary, of Panama City Beach, Fla.; and three sisters, Janet Annis and husband, Don, of Bangor, Pearl Johnston and husband, Merv, of Brewer, and Rose Carlson of Estero, Fla. In addition, she is survived by two grandsons and four great-grandchildren, all living in the Ellington, Conn., area. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Merle R. Clark. [Maine Marriages, 1892-1996: Ruth Hoskins married Merle R Clark on 21 Nov 1942, both of Milo, Piscataquis, Maine.] Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Lary Funeral Home, 31 Elm St., Milo. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at United Baptist Church, 11 Pleasant St., Milo, with Pastor Phil McLaughlin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to , 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com. Graveside committal services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery, Milo, with Pastor Phil McLaughlin officiating.
