Born on March 23, 1931 in Blacksburg, she was the wife of Vernon Kite for 56 years. She was the daughter of the late Lyman and Maggie Hulsey and sister of the late Ralph Hulsey. She graduated from Blacksburg High and was a member of First Baptist Church of Blacksburg. She worked at the bank in Blacksburg for many years until opening their family business "The Calico Corner" with her husband for 32 years. Ruth can be remembered for being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Surviving, in addition to her husband, is a son, Kevin Kite of Gaffney; a daughter, Kitty Adams and husband, Arnold of Easley; a brother, Dean Hulsey and wife, Gilda of Pinehurst, NC; and two granddaughters, Abigail and Erin Adams. Special thanks to her loving caregiver, Trudy Reynolds and for all the support from Interim Hospice. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Hammett officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cherokee Co. Unit, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615 or Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC 29301 or First Baptist Church-Blacksburg, P.O. Box 654, Blacksburg, SC 29702.
