Ruth was born August 10, 1918 in Norfolk, Neb., to John and Anna Marie (Haase) Huebner. She moved to Hot Springs in 1925, during her youth, and lived in Hot Springs all this time, except for one year in late 1941 early 1942, which she spent in Culver City, Calif. Read More	August 10, 1918 - August 5, 2006 Ruth Irene Osman, 87, of Custer and formerly of Hot Springs, died August 5, at the Custer Regional Senior Care Center in Custer. Ruth was born August 10, 1918 in Norfolk, Neb., to John and Anna Marie (Haase) Huebner. She moved to Hot Springs in 1925, during her youth, and lived in Hot Springs all this time, except for one year in late 1941 early 1942, which she spent in Culver City, Calif. She was confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church on July 5, 1930 and was its oldest member. After high school Ruth attended a year at Chadron Teacher's Normal from which she received a teaching certificate and then she taught country school for three years. In 1940, she married Maurice H. Osman in Hot Springs. She worked at Ben Franklin and then for Hot Springs Floral, which was owned by the Schnute family. Maurice and Ruth bought the Stevens Photographic Studio in 1945 and operated it for 40 years. For over 80 years Ruth served the Hot Springs community in many different ways. She was a chairwoman of the Fall River County Heart Fund, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 28 years (chaplain for one year), volunteered at the State Veterans Home and was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church for over eighty years as well as a Sunday School teacher for fifty years. Ruth is survived by her son, Neal (Elesa) Osman of Sylva, N.C., 2 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maurice. Memorial services were held Saturday, August 12, at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs with Pastor Jake Jacobson officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later time.
